Conservative Legal Experts React To Janus Decision
Josh Blackman, Associate Professor of Law at the South Texas College of Law:
“Twice this term, he Supreme Court has made clear that people cannot be compelled to engage in speech they disagree with. Today, in Janus, the Court recognized that public-sector employees cannot be forced to pay agency fees to subsidize the political activity of labor unions. Yesterday, in NIFLA, the Court found that crisis pregnancy centers cannot be forced to advertise abortion services.”
Judicial Crisis Network Chief Counsel, Carrie Severino:
“Mandating union contributions from non-members is a clear violation of our First Amendment rights. Thank you to the high court for respecting our constitutionally protected right to free speech.”
