Another uncorroborated allegation at the last minute raises a flurry of questions about the accuser

Here’s the news you need to know on this Wednesday, September 26, 2018.

Men and Women of Georgetown Prep letter to judiciary
In under six hours today, over 60 men women who attended Georgetown Prep or sister schools that knew Brett Kavanaugh well during his time in high school signed a letter to directly refute the allegations released earlier today by Michael Avenatti. The text of their letter is pasted below and attached

Seven questions about the Avenatti/Swetnick Story
Why would an adult go repeatedly to parties at which minors were being gang raped, and, having figured out what was going on, resolve only to “avoid the punch”? Did Ms. Swetnick tell anybody what she had seen? Why did she keep going back?

Avenatti Client Was in College When She Claims to Have Attended Gang-Rape Parties With High-School Students
There are several reasons for skepticism about these wild accusations: … Did high school students from Georgetown Prep like Kavanaugh frequently attend parties with University of Maryland college students like Swetnick in the early 1980s? Swetnick does not name any of the houses at which these parties allegedly occurred. … Kavanaugh has passed six background checks and there is no indication that this allegation against him—or any like it—has never come up to the FBI. If what Swetnick alleges is true—that there were “many” parties at which “boys lined up” outside of rooms to commit “gang rape”—then there must exist many victims, many perpetrators, and many witnesses. Swetnick does not claim in her declaration that there are other witnesses who can attest to any role of Brett Kavanaugh in gang rape.

Senator Lindsey Graham weighs in on the latest allegations.
“This is outrageous, internally inconsistent, and I hope the U.S. Senate will see this for the smear campaign that it is. It is outrageous to suggest that  Brett Kavanaugh at any time in his life behaved this way. His life is inconsistent with any of these allegations. All women who have worked with and for Brett Kavanaugh when he was in a position of power of have nothing but glowing things to say about the way he has conducted himself. I have a difficult time believing any person would continue to go to – according to the affidavit – ten parties over a two-year period where women were routinely gang raped and not report it.”

Michael Avenatti’s unbelievable allegation
As far as we know, not a single victim or witness ever called the police. As far as we know, not a single victim or witness ever told their parents, teachers, or any other responsible adult. As far as we know, this accuser is the only person who ever attended these parties who has ever come forward making this claim. Nothing relating to this multi-year conspiracy to commit repeated acts of ritualized sexual assault ever came up in six FBI background checks or White House security-clearance checks.

The anatomy of a smear
If allegations without evidence are enough to kill Kavanaugh’s nomination then no one is safe — including the senators who will decide his fate.
