Senators Collins and Manchin promise to vote “yes” to confirm Judge Kavanaugh
In an impassioned speech on the Senate floor, Senator Collins vowed to vote yes to confirm Judge Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
Senator Manchin, a Democrat from West Virginia, also confirmed that he will vote yes to confirm Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, calling him a “qualified jurist.”
The Senate moves towards a final vote for Judge Kavanaugh
This morning, the Senate invoked cloture on Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court, teeing up a final confirmation vote for this weekend.

“First principles matter and the principles of presuming innocence and putting the burden on accusers should be two of the very first principles a Senator should honor. I would encourage each of you to encourage Senator Collins to vote for Brett Kavanaugh and to also thank her for being deliberative, thoughtful, and moving this nomination along into its final hours,” writes Erick Erickson
