Here’s the news you need to know, on this Monday, July 23, 2018.

1. JCN Launches $1.5 Million Ad Buy in WV, ND, IN, AL
The Judicial Crisis Network has launched the latest phase of its campaign to pressure red-state Democrats in West Virginia, North Dakota, Indiana, and Alabama to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

2. JCN Releases Fresh Polling Data Showing Majority Support for Judge Kavanaugh’s Confirmation
Judicial Crisis Network released a survey of voters in Alabama, Indiana, North Dakota, and West Virginia—states that President Donald Trump won in 2016, and three of which have incumbent Democratic senators who voted in favor of Justice Neil Gorsuch’s confirmation. The results showed that voters strongly support Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the Supreme Court and that there is low opposition to Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation. (From the poll: Majorities of voters in all four states agree that Kavanaugh is a good nominee who should be confirmed by a 59 to 26 percent margin in North Dakota, a 54 to 33 percent margin in West Virginia, a 53 to 34 percent margin in Alabama, and a 52 to 35 percent margin in Indiana. Again, independents agree with the majority by margins of 59 to 24 percent in North Dakota, 58 to 27 percent in West Virginia, 52 to 35 percent in Alabama, and 45 to 39 percent in Indiana.)

3. Democrats and Republicans alike should welcome Brett Kavanaugh’s focus on the roles of Congress, the public and federal agencies in our democracy.
Kavanaugh’s interest in administrative law tells us that he is intensely engaged with questions that arise constantly in his current court and at the Supreme Court. His interest tells us that he is thinking about the roles of Congress, the executive branch, and the courts in regulating our daily lives. He’s asking questions that concern our liberty and our ability to participate as citizens in the development of the law. Hopefully, these are concerns close to the hearts of Democrats and Republicans alike.

4. No, Democrats, Brett Kavanaugh Doesn’t Believe Presidents Are “Above The Law”
After fumbling about for compelling lines of argument against the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the US Supreme Court, the Left is confronting the harsh reality that they have precious little of substance to use against him.  With the pre-hearings cupboard appearing quite bare, the talking point many Democrats have settled on is that Kavanaugh believes sitting presidents are “above the law” and “can’t be investigated” while in office.
