  1. Statement from Carrie Severino, chief counsel and policy director for Judicial Crisis Network

“The American people are grateful that Senator Grassley is standing up to President Obama’s cynical attempt to force the Senate to confirm Merrick Garland, another liberal judge who will ensure the Left dominates the Supreme Court for a generation or more. Senator Grassley understands that Merrick Garland will be the decisive fifth vote on the Court to gut the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms and the fifth vote to defer to unaccountable bureaucrats at federal agencies like the EPA. We thank Senator Grassley for standing with us.”

2. Statement from Jenny Beth Martin, president and co-founder of Tea Party Patriots

“Grassroots activists across the country are thankful to Senator Grassley for his steadfast and principled stand that the American people should have a voice in the selection of the next Supreme Court Justice. President Obama is attempting to bully the Senate into confirming liberal judge Merrick Garland so he can pack the Court with a liberal majority who will undermine our most cherished rights, like the Second Amendment right to bear arms, and unleash unaccountable bureaucrats at federal agencies like the IRS or EPA. Senator Grassley’s willingness to stand with the grassroots in defense of the Constitution is inspiring and we thank him for his commitment in the face of pressure from liberals and the left wing fringe.”

3. Statement from Marjorie Dannenfelser, SBA List president

“Despite pressure from sustained and organized campaigns by the abortion lobby, Senator Grassley has been unwavering in his commitment to ensure the people have a say in who fills this court vacancy. President Obama should not have the chance to stack the court with another pro-abortion Justice.”

4. Statement from Mark Meckler, Tea Party cofounder and president of Citizens for Self-Governance

“Sens. Grassley and Toomey are taking the right approach in the stand against Obama’s Supreme Court nominee by holding courtesy meetings with Merrick Garland to inform him there is no chance of holding hearings. Their leadership on this issue will prevent a liberal judge with liberal ideas from becoming Obama’s parting gift to the nation. Garland’s anti-first and second amendment record shows that the Constitution is in serious danger of unraveling should he be appointed to the bench.
“I hear from grassroots activists every day who worry about the direction our country is heading and are not holding back about expressing their views. These meetings are a good thing. I urge Sens. Manchin, Bennett and Heitkamp to take a stand against Garland and hold firm against his appointment.
