Less is More: Dems Day One Meltdown;  Judge K Finally Gets to Speak Today

The Kavanaugh Histrionics
About half of the Democrats on Judiciary are running for President, but have they consulted their Senate colleagues running for re-election this year?

Democrats Wage a Losing  Battle Over Kavanaugh
It Marked the moment when there was no longer a meaningful difference between the aim of elected Democrats and their unelected supporters in the audience. They were united in their determination to shut down the process because they both believe that if they can’t win, the game should be canceled. The unholy marriage of crybabies was blessed by Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois, who used his turn in the spotlight to praise the rude shouters, about 20 of whom were arrested by Capitol Police. He called them “the voice of democracy,” said it was great that “people can stand up and speak” and declared that the loud interruptions “represent what we are about in this democracy.”

Democrats’ Howling Over Kavanaugh is a Case of Style Over Content
If you missed Day One of Brett M. Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court confirmation hearing, just try to imagine a mud-wrestling contest attended by banshees howling at the referee.

Kavanaugh’s daughters should not have to watch their dad being bullied – When is all of this going to stop?
Is this what we’ve become? When the children of a Supreme Court nominee are forced to witness members of the Senate Judiciary Committee and public attendees berate and belittle their father – and dishonestly call his character into question – it’s obvious that civility and respect are in short supply.

Kavanaugh confirmation hearing turns into outrageous Senate circus
Democrats are engaged in nothing more than a desperate effort to delay a confirmation vote on Kavanaugh until next year when they hope to control the Senate by winning a majority in the November midterm elections. Their stalling tactics have nothing to do with Kavanaugh’s qualifications – they have everything to do with the anti-Trump resistance and turning out the Democratic base to vote in November. But Democrats up for re-election in November in states carried by President Trump in the 2016 election – and where he remains popular today – are under pressure to support Kavanaugh’s nomination to keep their jobs. Democratic Sens. Joe Donnelly of Indiana, Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota could wind up supporting Kavanaugh’s confirmation for this reason. All three senators voted to confirm Gorsuch when President Trump nominated him. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., whose top goal is to elect a Democratic majority in the chamber, would be foolish to pressure them to vote against Kavanaugh if it led to their electoral defeat two months from now.
